Downtown, near Avenida San Martín

9 places to stay

Avenida San Martín is Ushuaia's main street: restaurants, tour agencies, exchange offices and shops, with the Beagle Channel two blocks downhill. Staying here means having everything at hand and walking back at night.

Near the pier and the waterfront

4 places to stay

The lower part of the city, by the port. The boats that sail the Beagle Channel leave from the tourist pier, and from there Avenida San Martín is a couple of blocks uphill.

A few blocks from downtown, on the hillside

9 places to stay

Ushuaia climbs from the channel toward the mountains, so the quieter streets are up the hillside. Going is uphill, coming back is downhill; in exchange, many windows look out on the channel.

Ushuaia neighborhoods, far from downtown

12 places to stay

Outlying neighborhoods, toward the east or west of the city, or high up on the hillside. More quiet and views; to get downtown, a taxi, bus or car is the better choice.

Outside the city

3 places to stay

Inns and cabins on the outskirts, on the way to Tierra del Fuego National Park, to the Martial Glacier or along the road east. More forest and scenery; to get around you need a car or a transfer.
