Our policy
Booking Directo is a shop window, not a middleman. We show you places to stay and take you to each one’s door. What happens after that is between you and them.
We charge no commission
Not the traveler, not the lodging. There’s no percentage hidden in the price and no booking fee. When you book, the price you see is the one the lodging sets on its own website.
We never touch your payment
No money ever goes through us. You pay through the lodging’s booking system and the confirmation comes from them. If there’s a change, a delay or a question, you sort it out with the people who will host you, with no help desk in between.
We don’t keep your data
We don’t ask for an account, an email or a phone number to search. We don’t use cookies to follow you around the internet, and we don’t sell what you look at. When you tap “Book,” we let the lodging’s website know you came from here, and nothing else.
We do count, anonymously, which pages are viewed, what people search for and which lodgings get opened, so we know what works and can tell each lodging how many people looked at it. We don’t store your IP address or anything that identifies you.
We tell you how we sort
First come the lodgings that completed their page, then the ones with direct booking on their website, then the rest, sorted by distance. You can change the order to see first what’s closest to a trail, the town center or the bus station.
If a lodging ever pays to stand out, you’ll see it marked as featured. It will never be mixed in as if it were just another result.
Only lodgings with their own website
In each destination we show the lodgings that have their own website with bookings, big or small. It’s a simple condition: the “Book” button has to take you somewhere you can actually book. A place that doesn’t have its own website yet isn’t listed for now, and we invite it to join once it has one.
Where the information comes from
Each lodging’s location comes from OpenStreetMap, the open map kept up by people all over the world. The website, the photos and the booking system come from each lodging’s own site. Walking times are an estimate: we measure the straight-line distance and adjust it for the street layout.
If you own a lodging and something isn’t right, or you’d rather not be listed, write to us at alojamientos@bookingdirecto.com and we’ll fix it or take it down within 48 hours.
What we believe
Over twenty years, the place where travelers choose where to sleep moved from the lodging’s front door to the screens of two or three huge companies. Those companies set the rules: how much they get paid for every night, what price a hotel can show on its own website, who shows up first. The lodging welcomes the guest, makes the bed and serves breakfast, but the customer isn’t theirs anymore.
We think that has to be put back where it belongs.
- The lodging owns its relationship with its guest. The email, the phone number, the conversation before arrival and the “how was your trip?” afterward should be between the two of them, without a platform in the middle managing it.
- The lodging owns its presence online. Its website, its photos, its prices and its terms are its own decision, not a parity contract’s.
- A market works better when no one has that much power. When a single company handles most of a destination’s bookings, it stops competing and starts charging. Europe has already understood this: France banned parity clauses, the European Union placed Booking under the Digital Markets Act, and Spain fined it 413 million euros for abusing its position.
- Booking direct is better for the traveler. You talk to the people hosting you, not a help desk. And the money the lodging saves on commissions often comes back as a better price, breakfast or more flexibility.
Booking Directo is a practical answer to that. It’s not a platform: it’s a shop window that takes you to each lodging’s door and steps aside. That’s why we charge no commission, never touch the payment and don’t keep your data. If it works, it’s because more and more people book direct and more and more lodgings have a website that’s up to the job.
Who’s behind it
Booking Directo is made by Andes Developers, a studio in El Chaltén that designs websites and booking systems for lodgings. We say so plainly because it’s part of the story: every day we see how much it costs a small lodging to depend on the platforms.
Being listed on Booking Directo doesn’t depend on hiring anyone: all it takes is having your own website with bookings, whoever built it. If a lodging doesn’t have one, Andes can build it, but that doesn’t change its place in the results.
