About us

Booking is the blue one, with commission. We are the green one: a search site to choose where to stay, like Booking, but every place is booked on its own website and nobody takes a cut.

Who we are

Booking Directo was born in El Chaltén, Patagonia, in October 2026. We build it from here, where we see every day what happens to small places to stay: they welcome the guest, make the bed and serve breakfast, while a platform keeps 15 % or more of every night and the relationship with the guest.

We started with the destinations we know, from El Chaltén to Ushuaia and from Bariloche to Torres del Paine, and we add new places every week.

We are a group of developers from Patagonia. Since 2021 we have built websites and done marketing for lodgings and tourism businesses, so we see up close how this market works.

Booking spent more than 8 billion dollars on marketing in 2025 alone. That money puts it first in almost every search, and it becomes very hard for a hotel to compete: it ends up depending on the platform to fill its rooms.

We are not at war with Booking. We think it has its place, but to fill the nights a hotel has left, not to take 80 % of its bookings. It should be the other way round: most bookings direct, and the platform for what is left.

That is why we built Booking Directo: so that small, mid-size and large lodgings can have a closer relationship with the people who visit them, and so the internet is a slightly fairer place for them.

Whose side we are on

The places to stay. Booking and Airbnb help people find them, but they should not decide what a place charges on its own website. Every place should be free to set whatever price it wants on its own site, and travellers should be able to compare. That makes the market fairer for both.

The only thing we ask of a place to be listed is a website of its own that takes bookings directly, through a booking engine, with real photos.

How the project pays for itself

Booking Directo charges no commission, no listing fee and sells no advertising. We only list places whose own website takes bookings directly, through a connected booking engine: it is the only way the traveller books with them and not with a middleman.

The project is funded by Andes Developers, a Patagonian studio (El Chaltén) that builds this site and websites for lodgings with their booking engine. When a place has no website, or its website cannot take bookings, we suggest building it with Andes. Part of what is charged for those websites keeps Booking Directo running (servers, checking each listing, the site itself) and the rest is the studio's profit. Anyone who prefers to build their website with someone else, or on their own, is listed just the same as soon as it takes bookings. We say it here so everyone knows where the money comes from.

Places are free to build their website with anyone, or on their own. They are listed all the same, free, in the same position in the results. If a place ever pays to be featured, you will see it marked as featured.
